New flooring can completely renew the look of a room. While you have many options, a beautiful hardwood floor is timeless. Renewable hardwood flooring is an excellent option for environmentally conscious consumers hoping to find a great new floor and minimize their home’s carbon footprint.

Types of Renewable Hardwood Flooring

At District Floor Depot, we offer a wide selection of hardwood flooring in different colors, textures and widths to match your style. Available renewable hardwoods include bamboo, cork and eucalyptus.

Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo is one of the most popular renewable hardwood materials we sell. It’s an engineered product made by gluing split bamboo stalks together. Depending on the manufacturer, bamboo planks are often tougher and more durable than regular hardwood flooring. There are more than 1,000 species of bamboo growing around the world. Bamboo is also fast-growing and only takes about five years to reach maturity. When the stalks are harvested for flooring, the bamboo root is left intact, so replanting is unnecessary.

Cork Flooring

Cork flooring is produced by removing the bark from cork oak trees. The harvested bark is ground up, compressed and formed into planks. The tree is unharmed throughout this process, and its bark will regenerate in a few years. Renewable cork flooring is typically softer than traditional hardwood flooring, making it ideal for rooms where you’ll stand for long periods or need to absorb more noise, such as kitchens and basements.

Eucalyptus Flooring

Eucalyptus trees grow tall, straight and fast year-round, making them ideal for renewable hardwood flooring. This solid hardwood material is just as tough as other hardwood floors. Since it’s grown in humid climates, it’s more resistant to high-humidity and moisture than regular hardwoods.

Why Choose Renewable Hardwood Flooring?

Regular hardwood trees take decades to mature for harvest, but renewable hardwood materials take as little as three to five years. Bamboo, cork and eucalyptus are also sustainable building materials because they grow quickly and do not contribute to deforestation or habitat destruction. Renewable hardwood flooring is affordable, eco-friendly and beautiful. It allows you to increase the value of your home without generating harmful waste products.
